Thank you McBlazer! I like the coin in hand, appeals to my eye. I would like to eventually complete a date set of the bust halfs.
certainly a worthwhile, and achievable goal. With the exception of the Big Kahuna date, I've completed mine after about 8 years of fairly lazy collecting.
Seriously, what was wrong with that 1807? I liked that look of that one, but then again, I'm not a bust half collector. And I have no "problem" with "problem" coins... This one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1807-O-111...dKahnRareCoins-/123389321931?oid=312233237569 Only looking for "graded" examples?
1815/2 is the big one, with a mintage of only 47,150. It’s the only year that the capped bust half dollar mintage was less than the quarter mintage, so that really says something about the scarcity of the 1815/2. I believe that the 1820 is considered a semikey date, but nowhere near the 1815/2.
1815, 1807, and then (to a lesser extent) 1820 are the key years...however, all dates are readily available if one has the cash.
