Good point. But collecting the Lincoln Cent (1909-S, 1914-d) and the Mercury Dime collections are not exactly cheap either.

But some coins do go down in value. Another one that has dropped a lot is the Columbia S.C. half. Delaware has also taken a drop.

If you just collect one design and not by year mint mark then you can put a reasonable set together for about 20k
