I recently acquired one of the nicest and earliest examples of Pegasus on a coin. I many cases the wing is off flan and is incorrectly described as a horse. IONIA. Uncertain. EL 1/24 Stater (Circa 600-550 BC). 0.57 g. 6 mm. Obv: Bridled head of Pegasus left. Rev: Incuse punch with four raised squares. Weidauer 145-6 Any other early Pegasus' out there?
Wow Nemo, that's a fantastic addition (I'm very jealous of that lil' gorgeous gold animal-coin!!) => bravo!!
Good coin with nice details. Yeah if the missing wing wasn't mentioned I would have said its a horse.
