I find that lead shot bags work well. May have to use a second bag as they are not too big. But I'd rather two lighter bags than one heavy. Gun shops that sell reloading supplies can point you in the right direction
Just did a dump of halves at the bank and no problem with the machine. Still a little gun shy about dumping after the problems I had a few weeks ago. Can't believe I got all wimpy over it. I actually had a friend do three of my dumps this week at his bank. I gave him a 40% silver half and a gun case for doing it. Someone gave me the gun case so I really just gave him a 40%er. Gotta keep the economics of coin roll hunting in mind. Anyways, hope the fear leaves completely so I can get to full boar again.
Do it man, I m sure you pay for it somehow. I'm waiting for my tellers to make a snide remark, I will take my money ( millions) and go to the credit union.
I'm right there with softmentor. I bring the coins back in the box I bought them in. However that being said, since i'm searching only 1x a month. I have found a number of branches that will allow me to bag them. So I request the plastic coin bags, note the total and that gets deposited into my account 1-2 weeks later. This later system did not work for me when I was searching on a weekly basis. ~JobIII
Back on dumping at the Banks. How many of you have banks were only the tellers can use the machines? I want to know because one of my banks does that and I don't want to piss off the tellers by dumping there too much.
Lol, So the only place I would return to a machine is TD bank. They gave me full access to that machine, the magnet areas and reject pipe for all foreign coins. Now that i'm not returning unrolled I no longer make use of coin counting machines. I would suggest perhaps keep looking for nicer tellers. ~JobIII
I have another bank that has coin machines that I can use at just about all of their branches. I use them mostly but having banks closer to my house and work helps with driving around and spending gas money.
My machines are all operated by the customer. Seems like a good place to tell a story though. I went a couple weeks ago and the machine was down. A guy the day before dumped a big mix of coins, screws, and small metal parts in. Wrecked it. Who does that?
For some reason I get sea shells screwing up the machines when I operate them. Bank Manager once told me he found a live bullet that was jamming it.
Yeah. I've heard that before. That and the occasional box cutter getting caught by the magnet in the machine. Both situations sound crazy... ~JobIII
I found a .22 bullet, still in it's casing, just a few weeks ago. When I showed it to the manager she said "well, at least it's not a tooth or a condom. Those are the worst."
Dumped my last batch of halves today. And it will be the last. Teller asked me if I was looking for silver and finally I told them yes. I used to tell them I just collected coins. Kind of sad as I did have fun roll hunting but it's come to an end. I still have an unsearched box of cents and 5 boxes of cents to dump. I'll sit on those 6 boxes of cents til I move.
There is nothing wrong or immoral about looking for silver. In fact I believe I am continuing the family gold mining legacy by moving on and looking for silver since it is easier to find than gold.
Ditto, that's how I've always stored my pocket change, I fill em up to about a few inches from the top, and they've always been sturdy
