Dumb question about 2024 P dimes

I rarely pay attention to pocket change but I saw a very shiny 2024 P dime on my dresser so it made me curious. Looks like it made one stop from the mint to a coin roll. Information about it was pretty sketchy even after 10 minutes of Googling. It says only 75 million were minted. That's only about one for 4 Americans today. FYI, I don't collect clad dimes but that seems weird to me. Are they worth more than a dime? Common sense says no, but I honestly have no clue.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Nobody uses pocket change anymore. It isn't worth anything. What can you buy for a dime?

Since nobody wants it, they don't make many. Higher grade examples are common and aren't worth much.

The mintages of several 2024 denominations ended up lower than previous years. It appears there is a premium on them over face value but the selling costs/shipping takes away much of the profit.

A quick eBay search showed sales between $1.50 and $3; fees (assuming no store) would be 13.25% plus $0.30 flat plus the cheapest shipping of $0.69 (eBay standard envelope for a 1 oz package) = 1.19 to 1.39 ....add in the coin's cost: 0.10 face value ....and your profit is $0.21 to $1.51 (without taking into account any labor/packaging/travel). So if you could sell several hundred at close to $3 each, there is some potential to make a bit but if you have one or two examples, don't expect to strike it rich anytime soon.

Thanks. I saw where they were selling for exactly what you say. I'll just stick in a flip and save in my miscellaneous junk bin for my heirs. Appreciate the reply.

Profit can be made on any of these coins, especially if you have a full roll of them. I can often get about 1.5x face out of modern mint rolls, i.e. a 2024 dime roll selling for about $7.50 a roll.

In due time, there will be a group of collectors who will pay a small premium for them due to a somewhat lower mintage.

2024 coins seem to have lower mintages for several denominations so I’d be saving that for at least a few years, until the dust settles and things become clearer.

As with anything, something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. They're rarer than usual, but not rare on an absolute basis, and they wouldn't go up hugely in value unless the demand exceeds the supply.

I think it will be a while, if ever, that these will be worth significantly more than face value, but if you're not short of storage space, it wouldn't hurt to save them if you got them for face value. At worst you could always spend them later and you lost nothing.
