There's a guy who keeps listing $2, $20 and $100 "white" notes on CL. He charges a 3% premium on the $100 and 10% premium on everything else... Recently, he's started trying to sell $10 notes for a 30% premium. Part of me wonders if I should post "Buying $2, $20, $10 and $100 notes for $1, $18, $7 and $97, respectively!"
I'm with Paddy. I've never hear the term white note as referred to for money. A white note is used in music but I don't know that either. Could it be a white post-it note?
Best I can tell... "white" note means the generation right before the multicolor notes... or, in other words, the US currency that pretty much EVERY foreign exchange outside the US refuses to accept due to $100 and $20 super notes.
I suspect there will be plenty of nice examples held by collectors, but one never knows how aggressively the Treasury is decommissioning old currency. While poking fun at the seller, you might unwittingly be overlooking an opportunity. There's always someone out there who is early to an unanticipated party.
Please... Don't try to find the bottom of dumb on Craigslist. It's just a waste of your time. Something dumber is always waiting for you.
