I found this weird dime in a roll. Its probably just a dryer or spooned dime but i just want to make sure. IMG_20191016_084253197.jpg IMG_20191016_084309301.jpg IMG_20191016_084323389.jpg

Maybe not a dryer coin, but definitely
'tapped' on the edges, and abused surfaces.

It's a spooned dime. Reeding was hit and smashed flat.

It's damaged and that's all that counts. Welcome to CT.

  7. The loss of reeding could also indicate a slot machine dime.

Why would the US Mint make a non-reeded Dime for Casinos? If they were spent in public it would create a problem. Casinos would make their own coins called tokens from a private Mint but never the US Mint.

I think he meant that the edge wore down over time.

Definitely post-mint damage, but I suspect other than in a dryer.

I'm not sure what he meant.

  13. Precisely. Thousands and thousands of times through the slots and those edges become smoother than a baby's behind. I see it all the time coin roll hunting.

Aren’t all slot machines digital these days and work off of card readers instead of actual coins? This coin is only a year old and could not have been through enough machines to wear it the edge down. Looks like a spoon job or it was done with a bench grinder to me.

  15. But they weren't twenty years ago.

    The op’s Dime is a 2018.
