    Hi all,
I live in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx NY. There is a mechanical shop near me that repairs laundry dryers. I decided to stop in and ask one of the mechanics a few questions. I asked him if he ever encountered what is known as Dryer Coins..
He stated that he definitely has. Unfortunately he had none on hand and after a search of a few of the machines they had at their facility we were not able to find some good examples.
Here are some pictures I was allowed to take today...

Man, if dryer lint was worth money, those guys would have it made!

The mechanic did tell me to stop by in the future. He will look for good examples of dryer coins and hold them for me.

    Neat! Interested in more finds!

If possible ask to be shown exactly where they find coins in the equipment

Dryer lint is worth its weight in gold when it comes to starting fires. Our cub scout pack always carries a big coffee can of the stuff on our camp outs. Great/easy way to get your camp fire started. That being said, clean out your dryer vents at home!

All of those coins look like rare mint errors to me...

Yes, all kidding aside, this could be an interesting long term study of the phenomenon.

I routinely clean out my dryer once a year when I change the batteries in my smoke detectors, and the first time I did it a couple of years ago, I was astonished at how much lint I cleaned out. No coins though.:inpain:

One of the scariest experiences I've ever had, someone didn't clean out the lint trap in the dryer on the submarine I was on and it caught on fire.

Love it. This also goes to show the power of just asking questions or to see things. I’ve learned to always ask. The worst they can say is no. I’ve had many unique experiences just from asking.

Best/Worst part of the story? It was the first time in 9 days that the Browns had gone to the superbowl. I was sitting there when the fire alarm went off. I figured that was where I was going to die. If they ever brought the sub to the surface and recovered the bodies...mine would've been floating in the head with my pants around my ankles lol.
