My Grandmother gave me some coins and as I was looking through them, I found what looks like an 1804 Draped Bust silver dollar, but there is no date on it. Does anyone have any info on it? Thanks
Without pictures we can't do much, sorry. If you can post a clear photo of both sides of the coin and I'm sure we can help determine exactly what you have!
Without pictures it's just a guess - picture taken from : http://www.montanararities.com/bust-dollar-silver-round-1oz.html
That is a 1 ounce silver round not made in the 1800's and are fairly common on ebay and it worth about $20. Unfortunately that kind of looks like a Chinese fake so if you can put a magnet up to it and if it sticks it is a fake and if it doesn't than that is a good sign to its authenticity but does not mean 100% it is real.
Thats great! Now if you have yourself a gram scale, it should weigh 31.1 grams which is a troy ounce (Not to be confused with an ounce which is around 28 grams). A troy ounce is the standard weight measurement for precious metals.
Very great! It is a one ounce pure silver round worth around $20. It may not be historic but silver is silver, right?
