"Oh my," she said, "I'll talk to Dr. S."</p><p><br /></p><p>Turns out the hand surgeon had done his residency in foot surgery. The operating room staff were all laughing when I was wheeled in. It wasn't quite a 2-for-1 but it was a lot cheaper than two separate surgeries.</p><p><br /></p><p>Now, you'd think I'd be careful around filler hoses after that. Nope. Six years later I tripped again, this time smucking the concrete with my head, opening a gash above my eye and getting a slight concussion. </p><p><br /></p><p>Nowadays I treat gas filler hoses as if there were Black Mambas.
