Dr Coinlove; or how I learned to stop worrying and built a coin cabinet

@Ryro, very impressive...and humorous! Now I'll have to go used furniture shopping, or build my own. I'm just finishing a custom 2' x 4' x 8" bathroom cabinet and a small keepsake box. So, a question: did you get the coin trays on eBay?

I apologize if the following true story is seen as hijacking this thread, but I had to LOL about the comments re hurting oneself doing projects like these. About ten years ago I drilled into my index finger. It wouldn't heal because of metal bits, necessitating minor surgery under anesthesia. The morning of surgery I tripped over the filler hose at the gas station, ripping open my big toe (I was wearing sandals).

My wife had to drive while I put my foot on the dashboard. When we got to the doc I walked up to the receptionist and said, "It's Friday; do you have a 2-for-1 deal?" "What do you mean?" she asked. I pointed down and she peered over the counter. "Oh my," she said, "I'll talk to Dr. S."

Turns out the hand surgeon had done his residency in foot surgery. The operating room staff were all laughing when I was wheeled in. It wasn't quite a 2-for-1 but it was a lot cheaper than two separate surgeries.

Now, you'd think I'd be careful around filler hoses after that. Nope. Six years later I tripped again, this time smucking the concrete with my head, opening a gash above my eye and getting a slight concussion.

Nowadays I treat gas filler hoses as if there were Black Mambas. I walk around the car.

Now, you have gotten my blood flowing again. Currently, my coins are in coin boxes, where possible. Then they are put in 9 - 16"deep, 10"wide, and 12" tall, cardboard magazine storage boxes. They aren't all full, but they are separated by source and type of coins. I keep almost all my U.S. Mint purchases in 1 box, the rest of them are in 2 SDBs. My foreign coins and currency are in one box. I keep all graded coins in a box. They rest are sorted by denomination..half dollars, quarters, etc.
I loved your coin chest and now I want one. There is a large building of donated furniture, books, toys. etc. Maybe they have a cabinet...
    Anyway, thanks for your entry.
