20151211_173658_HDR-1.jpg 20151211_173545_HDR-1.jpg I can only find information about the doubled die reverse on this 1993 D penny. Nothing about the double stamped or doubled die obverse on the D. Can anyone tell me about this? So have the 2016 red book and it only says doubled die reverse.

I would say split plate doubling as the mint mark was not hand punched into the die.

Yeah - I see alot of that coin roll searching. At first you think you have something but upon closer (more mag) inspection you can see the zinc where the plating either didn't take or else pulled back a little in that area.

Ok. I am getting a microscope for better inspection.

A good quality 10X loupe should be sufficient.

Yes - but squinting through a loupe is a PITA compared to putting a coin under a scope and viewing it on your monitor - plus then you can easily take a picture with the scopes software program.

If you do get one make sure it is compatible with your version of Windows you are running (assuming you are running windows?) I originally bought a Celestron scope that wasn't compatible with Windows 7 and it would not work no matter what I did - so sent it back for refund. Found out later the software was designed for Windows 8.

definitely plating issue as there are no more re-punched mint marks from 1990 on...
