I know this is mostly for Gold and Silver investing but does anyone invest in Copper? I found a website Tacoma Copper and it seems very inexpensive and not sure if copper is at a low or high right now. Any thoughts around this metal?
I've seen copper discussed here. I guess from what I've read is that silver already takes up a lot of space as it is...so I think copper would just b e 10x worse!!!
Bang bang! I save my copper cents. Only because, in 1964 if you saved your silver coins you were nuts! Metals that come from this earth are being harvested/mined, so much growth in foreign economies ie China India, are creating a new situation in our world market for metals. In the early 90's silver was only a few bucks a oz. And sure Copper is at 20cents an oz. But if you want to buy low and sell high, well that just depends on this world and how long you live in it.
LOL so true.....you could wait till the very end but what's the point, you'll be dead! Ok, so maybe you want to save for your kids, fine. You better have really solid grounded kids cause when they see that you are giving them $100 an oz of silver(and a lot of it)....HELLO MUSTANG!! HELLO 10 bedroom McMansion... You'll be rolling over saying, WTF kids? You spent it all???
try doing the math, you will pay around 40x face+ OVER THE SPOT PRICE OF COPPER.not sure if it will rise in time for me to still see the money invested.
Depends- I keep a set of dikes in my truck to cut cords on electrical items left out for trash and cash it in when my bin is full. Always in the positive that way.
A piece or two for conversation maybe okay to have on hand... collecting copper cents for investment in PMs is cumbersome too and may potentially be illegal to sell for melting... but currently there is no specific law about that, just strong urgings not to do it! Check out Cohen Mint There are likely better forms of copper to invest in than in holding your own physical especially since when you wish to sell finding buyers might be very much harder than the more precious metals like platinum, palladium, gold, silver... Also do a search here on CT for Copper Bullion, the topic has come up with views expressed. The search is located at the top of each page and takes a little getting used to how to search. Here's a couple: Copper (bullion) bars, kinda pricey... Copper Bullion as an investment Investing in Copper.. Thoughts? Hoarding copper pennies
A cool copper coin... Copper just isn't practical, you need too much to be worth anything. With current prices in the $1.50/lb; and the big spike a couple of years ago (to $4/lb); it's just not worth it. Also it's highly correlated to basic economic growth. If economic growth is picking up there are a bunch of superior investments. But as those of us here are into coins; I have found one copper coin that I had to have. I'm a huge Atlas Shrugged fan. Too bad her book written in 1957 seems to be describing our economic and political situation today. There is a website www.johngalt.com that sells all sorts of Atlas Shrugged stuff: shirts, bumper stickers, coffee mugs, etc. And my favorite: 1oz pure copper coins with d'Anconia Copper on the obverse! I thought about sending one to each of those free-spending of our money idiots in Congress; but I figured they'd have no idea what I was referring to. Yippee!! My 1st post!!
