Picked up my first 5 sets at the PO today. The others are on the UPS truck and will hopefully be here by about 3:30 EST. The quality is terrible on too many of the coins. Just two examples of the dimes out of ONE SET of the 5 I got. Notice the spotting all over the face of Roosevelt. WHAT THE??????? Polish, bad planchet, the guy putting it in the capsule sneezed? And the other dime, a nice chunk out of the face of the coin. I just don't get it. Don't these people inspect the planchets before striking them and then check them again for defects? Is this what we will get from the mint for years to come? I sure won't be sending my sets in for grading unopened only to get 69 or less on the grading. A total waste of money. Have one of the dollars with a huge glove type fingerprint..or maybe it is just a fingerprint...over a large area of the nice shiny surface in another set. Maybe about 5 million letters to the director of the mint about their quality would help but probably not....he is just another bureaucrat paid by our taxes!
