Will do, but soon. Grand Jury service and the car went on the bum today. Don't know how I'm gonna get to 'work' in the morning and the commissioner of Jurors is a beast.....most unforgiving in regard to absence.

I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow. :)

C'mon now...just take some pictures with your microscope and blow them up to the size of a small house, and then you'll see all these imperfections. Gosh darn it, why can't the mint put out all perfect 70's so we can all flip them quick and get rich? :cigar:

The Mint may be responsible for creating all of this trinket-like supposedly-"rare" garbage, but the feeding frenzy of flippers and dealers sure do add to the idiocy....

I think I'm turning into a grumpy old man--that's dangerous at age 35. I may be a REALLY grumpy old man by the time I get to 60 or so. :banghead:

Maybe the average grade is around proof 67 to proof 68. Few proof 69 and proof 66. And no proof 70 at all. Will it be just like the Kennedy clad two coins set?. That is why they can mail it to us so fast.

I was thinking about buying some but for $61. buck I decide I might just let it go. There are just way too much stuff coming out from the mint and Yes there will be money making here but the more thinking about getting it makes me think Not to getting it at all.

  7. If you are correct, these may have long term value after all. The first to get a 70 is going to make some money.

I dreamed about my order all night, which is currently at NGC. I didn't get all 70's, but I got enough!

I'm thinking that we'll have a hard time getting our legislators to focus on collectable coins at all, never mind a few tiny flecks and smudges.

Sure, I'm offended, too -- see my comments about the gold and silver Kennedy quality issues -- but I can be objective enough to see that most of American society would be laughing at our expense.

Coins are made by humans. Humans are not perfect. Hence, coins are not perfect.

I have yet to get a product from the mint I did not think was beautiful. Then again, I don't get my stuff graded. I buy them raw, and if I decide to sell one, I'm selling it raw.

I have had "good luck" with the mint. But it seems that every time I make a purchase I feel like I am supporting the continuing process of making and designing very poor coins. The reliefs on many coins today (primarily circulation) are practically flat, dull lifeless objects. Compare a 2015 cent with a 1963 cent, no micrometer is needed! I am told its about saving or prolonging die life. Which stands on the premise that its about cutting costs. Baloney. The phoney copper plated zinc cents are quite soft and profitable!! Check the melt values. The dime is another profitable winner for the mint. The senorage (man I do not remember how to even spell that one, but y'all know what I mean) is really high for the quarter. In fact the quarter "sales" alone pay most of the bills. What I absolutely despise, are coins minted only for "collectors". Which to me is insanity. Numismatic coins and medals and commemoratives belong to mints like the Franklin and Danbury etc. The US mint should focus upon making fabulous coins suitable to the greatest nation this earth has yet seen!! Let's get with it. Titanium, niobium, tri-metallics, aluminum/bronzes, and high relief beautiful, I mean beautiful designs. The true collectors will then switch to these beautiful business and proof types of these (the aforementioned coins). I would buy a beautiful circulation coin... Period... Look at the 1993- Czech republic 50 Korun, bi-metallic. Now the outer ring of copper plated steel produces a stunning coin!! Both the inner core and outer ring are steel! Great engineering!

Seriously, jump over to EBAY and take a look at one. Now why cannot the US Mint make such treasured objects of commerce??

The mint can start by ditching the laser frosting on the devices of coins. Seriously. Get a 10x loupe and examine the portraits. You will be rightly horrified at the moon like surface. You don't even need magnification to see how rough they are compared to the previous method.

You omitted another important link in this food chain, the so-called "experts." I don't care about this shiny crap, give me my "wavy steps" and "trail dies!" And whatever's next!

  18. Back to the original topic. My order arrived yesterday. Quality is great! Here is a sample. TC

    Got mine yesterday.
    My grades:
    10c W PR-70
    $1 W PR-68
    10c P RP-67

Overall quality isn't really bad, by my RP has a small milk spot at 3:00 on the obverse.
