::::drooling:::: now that's TWICE you done made me fall outta my chair!!! and I have to say that you warned me too!!! WOW! Those are nice sets!
It is interesting that the Morgan got a PF grade instead of a PL grade. I didn't think there were any proof Morgans?
There were PROOFS made in every year the Morgan was EXCEPT for 1921 There was One year there were two varieties and One year there ONLY PROOFS made. PL ( Prooflike ) is given the designation to MINT STATE (MS) coins that have PROOF LIKE qualities.
This is truly awesome seeing all these all together like this in this condition. I wonder how much more the set would be worth over the sum of its parts; or even how you'd go about trying to determine that "set premium."
I'm not so sure there would be a set premium. All proof and sms sets I have seen sold separately have sold for more each than the set. Now I don't know about a proof set from 1886...
Maybe I was a little unclear. I meant the premium over the sum of the individual coin values for just the fact that the coins are all together in a complete set. And yeah, 1886. Just don't know where you'd start to try to value a premium like that.
I understood that and I think I may have been a little unclear with my response. I have seen a 1966 sms kennedy sell for as much as the whole set would. Same thing with proof franklins and 1960s proof sets. The difference is overall value though so I too do not know what the premium for the set would be if there is one.
Oh, I get you, now. I guess I just can't get over seeing these all together and I have no idea where I'd start to try to value that aspect.
never i am not selling my gold to buy base metal coins and my advice to u is dont even thinka bout it. u know how much the full FS collection will be once it is complete say in 2020 ull be able to buy all the coins u wanted for that
Keep yer fingers cross that the FED doesn't confiscate Gold like in '33 I have plenty for back up though ... The Buff set was expendable Good Luck with yours
