    I love this coin-- a well-rendered lion, a dolphin, a griffin, Athena... all nicely centered. :)

    Perhaps we should include the dolphin coin of all dolphin coins??? There are many nicer than this and millions not so great ones.

    I approve of the Titus and do not like considering it just another Titus with a generic reverse. I agree $400 is high but IMHO that is a factor of the edge problems more than the type. It is part of the series appealing to the gods to cool it with Vesuvius and was one of the last coins before Titus died leaving the type to Domitian. Mine is one of the first Domitian coins and was issued before he assumed TRP. The same coins exist for him with TRP as Augustus. CNG sold one even earlier with PONT instead of PM but also lacking TRP. It seems the mint was changing dies to keep up with the transfer of power being done in steps.

    Symbol variety – RRC -. Babelon -. BMCRR -.

    A previously unknown symbol pair and the only known example.

    I actually made well over 10% on it... in ~9 months. The profit paid for the Aegina stater I posted earlier and a few others :)
