True to some extent... but kind of harsh. Frankly, what if someone is buying a house, and they find the house of their dreams. Location, layout, etc suit them to a tee. And, it also suits another couple to a tee. House is worth $200,000 but they bid it up to $300,000. they can afford it, and it is exactly what they want. Was it worth it? To an outsider who has different needs, no. To them, yes. This coin is the same thing. I would not pay it, but I have bought others for over market because I wanted them. Obviously several people wanted this coin. Now, because it was not graded, likely mistakes were made and they desired it as an inexpensive MS65+

We can argue that it is AU58... but what if PCI or ANACS was to encapsulate it as an MS65 (or any other second tier but mostly reputable firm)? We may all disagree, but such is the world of TPG's, and now the buyer is brilliant, not stupid.

So, he bought it for a lot of money, but wanted that great looking coin. Hobbies don't have to be rational. People buy silly little toys for thousands of dollars... old movie tickets, and other junk, and price is always set by the amount someone else values it. So, free market economies work the way they are intended. The buyer was not ignorant that is was likely not an MS65+ coin, but made a choice to still want it badly. He's not going to crash the market, and if he sells it, then he is a bad business person... as paying that to resell would not be a wise buy. Otherwise, he's just a happy collector!
