Does this make sense?

Maybe it's a SC thing but I have NO issue getting Quarters from my Bank. Even during the "coin shortage" I would get anywhere from a $500 box to 3 of them at a time. And when I'm done searching I roll them and take them back. They even give me the roller's for free. They don't even inspect further than just counting how many rolls I bring back to them. Same thing with paper currency. I search through Strap's then re-strap them and take them back for a swap. They don't even count those! Ok, to be fair the Tellers all know me and IF there's a mistake they know I'm only a phone call away and I will go fix it but it's never happened in over 3 years and I search through a few thousand a month in paper and coin.

Exactly. There was nothing in it for them except the work it would take to verify that you were not cheating them with a short count or slugs. Then they would have to re-roll your coins to get back to their starting position. What if a commercial customer needed quarters and yours were not re-rolled yet?

Yes, the bank would be short. They have to send them via carrier to be inspected and recounted before they can be redistributed. There is actually a coin shortage of almost all denominations.

A few months back I had about $1,000 in small dollars I wanted to get rid of! I called one of the local banks and asked if I could sell them there! The teller said "were a bank we have to take coins". My kinda teller!

    Quick math course!
    You have $200 in quarters!
The bank has $200 in quarters!
You give your $200 in quarters to the bank, they now have $400 in quarters!
Bank gives you the $200 in quarters they had originally!
Now the bank still has $200 in quarters!
You have $200 in different quarters!
    Everyone is happy, mission accomplished!

If the bank/teller didn't have enough quarters for the trade and failed to explain that, they need a different job! :arghh::arghh::banghead::banghead:

I'm guessing you didn't take the time to read any of the previous posts. Here's mine:

Many banks will not take your CWR's and just disperse them to another customer. They are required by their policy to send them to the sorting company, ie: Loomis, to break those rolls open, count them, reroll them and then sell them to their member banks.

Not only is it time consuming for the original depositing bank, but there are fees associated with this procedure. Forget the fees, that's their cost of doing business. However, to say the original customer wrapped roll deposit is an even exchange for their inventory of bank wrapped rolls is an oversimplification that just isn't accurate. The bank does lose the availability of the deposited customer wrapped rolls while the recounting, re-rolling and redelivery process takes place.

The teller may not have explained it properly to the OP'er or quite frankly may not have even understood the entire process, but to say they need a different job is unnecessarily casting a pall of negativity on that teller.

OK! I get CWR's from my bank frequently. The OP did not state that sending them to another place like Loomis was the problem so I mistakenly assumed that could mean that bank disburses CWR's without sending them anywhere! I was not "casting a pall of negativity" on that teller! I was merely expressing my opinion that in this specific situation the teller did not provide very good customer service, suggesting that they may not like their job and might want/need to look for something they are better suited for. Kinda like taking your car to the shop and being told they can't fix it without any explanation. Bottom line is my post was and still is my opinion and I am entitled to it just like everyone else is entitled to theirs. Thanks! Hope you have a great day!

Whenever I get a few rolls of halves, they usually have to get them from the vault. They don't like doing that unless they don't have a line of customers. Usually I have to wait 15 minutes.
