Does MS70 harm coins?

    Ethyl benzene is just another compound similar to xylene...should be no problem.

    What you're describing is normal for xylene. What I like to do is rinse the coin with distilled water after and then let it air dry. No need to do anything else.

    Yeah, it's effectively the same stuff. Chemically quite similar, and really hard to separate. Xylene is generally a mixture of several similar chemicals; all behave the same way, and all are safe for coins.

    Probably best to just let it evaporate. A cleaner will simply spread it around more.

    Yeah, let the container sit open outside for a couple of days.

    Ms 70 took the finger print off my37 proof quarter, but may have made the hairlines more visible. Took off the thin haze to give it the same appearance as all my others. No harm to surface at all, (under microscope).
