I recently bought this because of it's fantastic bluish/purple toning, but I don't know much about it. Does anyone know anything about this medal, its history, why it was made, its value? It's about the size of a half dollar. Thanks!

By the way, I took these photos with my handy dandy new Dino Lite Microscope camera! They're not great, but they're not too bad either.

Cool medal. Mine is no where near as nice. Produced by the Whitehead & Hoag Company of New York, see inside rim at bottom of reverse. I have learned that the Sunday American gave one to each of their subscribers on the occassion of the 100 th anniversary of Lincoln's birth.

Thanks for the info PennyGuy. I ended up googling this medal and did find some of the same info you just mentioned. Also, I found that it's only worth maybe what I paid (around $10), but I love the toning on this particular one.
