Stanton is one of my favorite characters, being the Sec of War for Lincoln, he took un-official duty of President of the United States after the assassination plot on Lincoln, Johnston and other Cabinet Members.

He was Lincolns rival at one point and was even thought to be in on the conspiracy in Lincoln's assassination. He was in the room when Lincoln died according to the reference books I have read.

I like your notes and have most of them also. The last ones that I acquired were # 1295, 1356, and 1355. They are easier to find up North than in the South and better prices. -O)
