Thank you GDJMSP. It was really nice of you to offer. I'm trying to attach a copy of the scan but I'm feeling a little stupid right now. When I click on Insert Image it will only let you insert a website address. Is there another place to attach a picture? Thanks, Debbie
Debbie: You can post them to photobucket and attach the link here. Or upload the image.\ see below, (your post/reply) it says go advanced. Click on it. scroll down, you will see: Attach Files Valid file extensions: bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip Click on the Manage attachments, and you can up load from your computer. But, you may have to reduce the file size, there is a limit to file size here, that is why I use the Photobucket (it is free.)
I was looking at suncoins.com and remembered seeing your wanting an 1809 dime. They have one listed, VF rev.scr. $550. If your still interested.
Thank you very much for the tip, Abe. I have just looked at their inventory but did not see it. Maybe gone already? As I noted at the beginning of this thread, there was a regular 'frenzy' going on a few months ago (in another forum) about this date. As was bound to happen, this caused a few more samples to surface, which were eagerly snapped up for unduly high prices. Even otherwise hideous examples are bringing a few hundred $$'s. For sure, the 1809 dime is and remains a scarce coin in the series, possibly on a par with the 1822 dime. Both are R-4. The current prices for the 1809, high as they are, seem to reflect this.
Just checked, its still there. Page 4. The pages are kind of messed up. They are very good to deal with. If you let them know, they'll contact you when any item you request has come into their hands...
Thanks RLM! I called them yesterday and left a voice message. Also wrote them an e-mail and hopefully they will respond soon. Not all dealers like to ship abroad, so lets wait and see. Once again thank to you and Abe for the heads up. Eduard
My 1809 Dime has arrived I thought I would show you the 1809 dime which I was able to purchase thanks to RLM's and Abe letting me know about it. Thanks again guys! It arrived a little while back, all the way from the dealer in Arizona, and I must say it is a pleasing example. You will notice that it has a scratch on the reverse, definitely noticeable but I knew this, and decided to purchase it anyway. On balance the coin the coin is quite pleasing, decently detailed, it was priced right, and of course, these 1809's are not easy to find! (It will certainly not 'slab', but that is not the reason why I collect). A nice original specimen of the 1st year of capped dime production. Eduard
WTG Eduard! She's a beauty! I have recently become more interested in the capped bust half dimes and dimes. Hard to find, and beautiful coins as well!
You are very welcome. Too bad about the scratch, but it has everything else you wanted especially the date.
