That is true for every denomination, pretty much everywhere. All those countries that joined the euro recently. Do you REALLY think anyone would have stopped using the former currency if the decision was made to leave the two currencies co-exist forever? Of course not. Here it'd be even simpler, because you wouldn't be changing currency.
