Forget the soft leather........hard back wooden chairs........ Everything else is dead on, though you forgot to mention pipe smoke as well. Prince Albert at that........
Oh, come on, it's a very useful organic solvent, not magic! If you're lucky, it'll take up some of the gunk, but won't do squat to the round spots. Here you go, @Paddy54.
The only problem is I don't drink whisky ! I'm more a tequila , vodka , red wine, beer drinker...... and no God forbid any drink that comes with one of those little umbrellas ....... Really Prince Albert in a can? How can you listen to Bob Marley and puff away on Prince Albert ?
Because I've never listened to Bob Marley......never discovered the significance or the wonder,,,,,,or the hype surrounding him. Steely Dan? Yeah. Classical Jazz? Yeah. Bob? No......
Well just say I am a huge Steely Dan fan.... and never knew who Bob was until I met him in a small club in MO bay Jamaica in 76.
Well @ 22 and single traveling through the Caribbean life was good some land falls better than others .
Yeah but it was fun playing pirate for awhile ..... Never did get a eye patch or an African Grey..... but sure had some crazy times.....
now back to coins what's your thoughts on this puppy? I'm thinking struck through something, more so then PMD. This one I picked up from Charmy
So hard to say, given that it looks lightly circulated. I'd be inclined to go with struck through, just because anything that will damage the surface to that extent should leave evidence on the obverse as well, which I'm not seeing.
My thoughts exactly , and yes it has been circulated but must admit the strike is what made me pull the trigger . I purchased this from the Penny Lady and this raw coin stood out in her case of all the FEC she had that day in Baltimore . Not saying it's anything above a Xf - Au slider in hand the obv. Will win you over as the rev. Discounting the damage.
Yeah, I could see myself buying it if I were in the market for an 1857 FE. I've owned coins with relatively large planchet flaws (which might be another possibility for this coin, as might be a detached lamination -- hard to tell without a 3d view of the coin).
As to the op coin no not a straight grade. Either cleaning or enviro damage take your pic. Either way it's fugly and I wouldn't own it unless it was practically free
NOPE. Damage. IMHO, it looks like a several gouges. Struck thru's do not have raised edges of displaced metal.
