I don't have a bunch of money to throw at the hobby so what I do buy is online for the most part. I will however not hesitate to buy supplies or a coin that catches my eye at a brick and mortar that IS a little more expensive than online. There is just something about looking in person and having that one on one experience that makes you love the B&M.
Most of my stuff is online. I get a surprisingly high amount from Instagram. Some sellers have great deals. I feel like i would do most of my buying at an LCS, but the nearest one is about 40 minutes away, and to me it doesn't seem worth it. I've been there a couple times, it's a nice shop, just can't justify the drive.

Thanks for the inadvertent suggestion!
You missed one option ... coin shows. I buy low to mid-priced coins online. I buy mid-priced to expensive coins at shows. Those price levels are my definition. Obviously they vary from person to person.
I didn’t even think of coin shows honestly. Just getting started into the hobby my options have been very limited. I’ll have to keep an eye out for a local-ish show sometime soon and go check it out.
I buy most of my stuff (80%) on ebay. I collect odd things that most shops don't carry, and I can get them at very competitive prices in auctions. BIN is usually way over retail. You just have to be careful and studious. The other 20% is 15% at shows, and 5% at shops.
Yes, although of late I’ve found myself working mostly with national dealers whom Im familiar with and trust well enough to know what they have to offer is the type of coins I’d be interested in.
