I bid on a few small silver lots from this one seller, and they all sold for far more than I can understand. Do you see anything special here? This sold for $86. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLD-WORLD-C...oIuws8VhisqUCi6Mz4lQQ%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc This one was $45, not as bad but I think still far more than they're worth. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLD-WORLD-C...oIuws8VhisqUCi6Mz4lQQ%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
It is a little hard to tell but it looks like the 5c in the first auction is the round 0 variety. http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=5-cents-1900&years=5-cents-1858-1901#536
Well, the only thing I can figure is like you said - they believe the Canada 1900 Five Cent silver is the Round 0's variety. For the second one, that 1887 Canada 5 Cent Silver is a key date. Krause lists it at $50 in VG...so I think if I were the seller I'd be slightly disappointed in the final hammer price. Of course, based on my experience trying to sell Canadian coins, everything but 1858 stuff ends in disappointment...lol
You're probably right. At first glance I assumed they were all common dates because when people sell lots like this they usually are.
