Here are a few of my Bust Dimes the first 1834 I've had since I started collecting as a kid back in 1963.
@ldhair, that 1829 is actually quite a nice looking coin. It looks appealing and I like it. It is, btw, a JR-7 variety. Paddy, quite a selection you have there! Your 1832 10C is a JR-1. I saw the curled base on '2' of the 1829 expecting dimes, and was about to go, wow! (1829 Curled Base 2). Then I realized I was looking at a H10C. Very nice group of half dimes.
On to the next year, 1824. Only 2 varieties exist for the year 1824: 1824/2 JR-1 and JR-2. JR-1 is fairly common. It is characterized by a flat top '1' in '10 C'. JR-2 is a truly rare coin in the Capped Bust Dimes Series. It is primarily distinguished by a pointed top '1' in '10 C'. JR-2 was only discovered in 1982. To this day, less than approx. 46 examples are known. The best known is EF. Any JR-2 in grade above VG is considered very rare. I was very fortunate to add a JR-2 PCGS VG10 to my collection last summer. This is the kind of coin you may want encapsulated. 1824/2 JR-1: 1824/2 JR-2: A coin which is very difficult to photograph!
Having a hard time getting good shots of my cbd. Gotta perfect my technique. Lighting is really messing me up. Well here it is. I think it's a high vf low xf.
I do not, per se, collect them, but I like them. They're pretty little coins. Here's my one and only. I got it for the Type set. After I got it, I found out it was a plate coin in the Bust Dime Variety ID Guide.
Nice coin @ToughCOINS! I am almost sure your 1829 is a JR-11 variety, which has a rarity rating of R-4. Pretty scarce as they come. @Skyman, I say it again, that 1835 of yours is a superlative coin! It is the plate coin for the variety in the Dime I.D Guide.
Next up is an 1827, variety JR-2. This is a very scarce die marriage characterized by the flat-top '1' in the dominator. About 40-45 are known give or take, most in G to VG, but it is still possible to find one in the wild. They turn up every so often in Ebay. 1827 JR-2 is a Red-Book variety.
Thanks for posting this one Eduard that's another one to be looking for in the Variety world of collecting . Pretty neat .....
Yes, I have another in lower grade, and sold the second finest, a PCGS AU53 S/N 28747297, a couple of years ago.
