We (I am a Canadian in the US) never used to find coins much. I'm not sure why that is. But I would guess because we have higher denominations (loonie and toonie) that Canadians are more in the habit of keeping track of their money. Since moving to the US some years ago, I find American pennies, nickels, and dimes pretty frequently.
