Not a member. Don't see any advantage to joining. Not to mention the organization has become a self-consuming entity the past few years.

The ANA may be the American Numismatic Association but that in no way means that their members only collect United States coins and currency. Quite the contrary. Many members collect world coins, ancient coins, currency (both US and world), tokens, credit cards, gambling tokens, exonumia, etc. A large portion of the ANA Library is devoted to numismatic areas other than US coins and currency.

Between The Numismatist and the ANA Library you may find that $28/year (basic adult membership - $14 for YNs) is well worth it. (ANA Members all over the world can check out items from the library for free; you pay only for shipping and insurance.)

You should join ANA for one year and see if you think the benefits are worth $28. You just may be pleasantly surprised.

I'm a member and probably owe them money for dues. Thought they would bill me. Anyone here get an invoice for dues?

nope, not a member and, looking at the benefits of being one, don't see enough that would be worth the money for me.

This will be my 3rd year attending Summer Seminar. In 50 years of this "hobby" I've found nothing that even comes close to the experience and education found in the "summer school" It has also allowed me to meet and get to know others here on Coin Talk. I look forward to seeing Hobo, Bart, etc and catching up with the year gone by.

Goes back to that old saying of: You can't be everything to everybody.
