Won a lot of several Icelandic coins. I should probably list them in the Icelandic Coins thread, but I'll put a couple here.

If anyone is interested, I'll be happy to bring this home the next time I visit the SDB and make individual pics.

First of all this was not easy. The bank was unable to find my sign in sheet to access my safety deposit box. After having 3 people scrutinize my ID and look at my bank records, they finally got someone in charge. After she look at my bank records, she explained that they must have misfile my sign in sheet and that I was welcome to enter the box without signing in. I guess she liked what she saw. Oh Well.
The coins are in a mint sealed package which folds out in 3 pages. The coins are in a plastic bubble enclosure which does not open. This made it difficult to position my camera and lights properly. The scratches you see are from the packaging, sorry the focus in not the way I would like, best I could do. Withe exception of the obverse on the "old" 1 penny, the coins are flawless. The penny has some "bubbles" at 12 O'Clock and under the chin.

I arranged the coins so you can compare the new with the old. All are dated 2008. The new coins can be arranged to form the Royal Shield. Each coin having a portion of the emblem. For those that have not kept up with the new coinage, this is the first design change in over 40 years. Matthew Dent used a computer to help him design the coins. Great Britain had over 4000 entries from the public competing for the new designs. Th biggest complaint from the Royal subject was that Britannia is no longer on any of their circulating coins. The 50 pence being the last. I read about this new design and was totally blown away with the design. I ordered the set as soon as it was available from the Royal Mint. I did not order the Proof set, but they are beautiful.

    Enjoy

I can post any coin individually if anyone wants to see them closer.
