When ever I meet visitors from out of the country, I always hit them up for pocket change. A friend was visiting from Singapore. This is what I got out of him yesterday.
Thank you for taking the photos (and going through that trouble with your bank ...)! Well, I appreciate the general design concept, ie. that all penny/pence denominations together form the CoA that is on the £1 coin. (The £2 coins were not affected by the redesign; may have something to do with their primary function as circulating commems.) And I even like those "portions" as something quite innovative on British coins. What I don't like that much: digits indicating the face value got replaced by characters again (ah well, Americans will be used to characters instead of digits), and ... what if the UK phases the 1p coin (or even both the 1p and 2p) out? Would the £1 and £2 coins be redesigned then and take those "spots" in the puzzle? Hmmm. By the way, while it is true that the regular 1p to 50p coins have not had new designs for so many years, there were quite a few changes or additions. The £1 and £2 circulation coins, the introduction of smaller Cu-Ni coins (no design change though), and the many circulating 50p/£1/£2 commems ... Christian
It is my understanding that one of the reasons that the 1 pound coin got a new design every few years was to help deter counterfeiting. Apparently you guys had it so bad the the fake coins were accepted along with the real thing. Sort of like "hot potato". It could happen here, low value coins are almost a pain. I almost never spend coins. I save everything, search them, then exchange them for Starbucks money.
:devil:Bank box's are not a lot fun to get too!!! I have 2 but I just glad each time I go to my box's there 1-2 offices I go to + semi know each person at least by 1st name + Last name.so I don't get the hairy eyes ball looks. but 1 odd thing if your wearing a hat on the doors to the Bank it has You most remove your hat????

1964 Egypt 50 piastres silver coin I recall reading that Jello needed one of these to finish his set. I now have two of this 50 piastres coin so I have an extra one. It is an 1964 Egypt 50 piastres silver coin. The coin is pretty big but the silver content is small. It weighs 20 grams & is 0.72 silver which equates to .463 ASW. Egypt made a set of coins using this design. The set includes the 5, 10, 25, and 50 piastres coins.
Nope, havent bought any coins in awhile, especially on ebay. I know which seller is selling it though, he's high priced.

The only way this Chilean coin gets any better is with the addition of a mammary gland on the right side.
I agree with Mat *** US coins are overpriced, not very old,and mainly made up of buffaloes, Indians, and ugly dead dudes foreign coins have cool pics/designs, unusual denominations, and sometimes naked women
That kind of imbalance is what you get when you have only one country (USA) in one scale, and a mix of coins from several hundred countries in the other. Christian
Yes I do... I get bored quickly with just US coins. The only interesting US coins for me are 18th/19th century and the half dollar commemoratives. I don't need all the variants and years of a coin.... what's the point of having fifty dollars or quarters that are all identical except for a tiny number? I guess I'm more of a type collector. I'd rather have fifty different coins than fifty identical coins. Not to mention that you learn far more about other countries and history when you see different designs, wondering what their background and story is. That's why I like the half dollar commemoratives too - they all tell a story.
:kewl:here 1480 German copper I was scanning my e-mail this was one I had to look at. has anyone seen or know more about German Copper???
