A pic is not needed for this post but I have a 2015 Mint Set with a WDDR-004 Homestead Philly Quarter in it. I have plenty of these as singles so do not need to break it out. If the TPG's do encase mint sets, do you think it worthwhile to send it in. I'm curious as to how they would designate a grade for these or just attribute it as genuine? Thanks folks.
No problem, I do wish they reinstate it. I'm not sure why they stopped - maybe it was due to the customized nature of various sets' slab size requirements, and the rising costs associated with them.
Here's an example of South Korean coins from the 'net. The coins aren't even all from the same year! I tried to get my mixed year 1940's Ireland set slabbed, but I was one year too late.
If I were you, I would call anyway. Ask if they can slab a 1940's era proof set. If they say yes, they can split the mint set. and remember this... you are probably not going to talk to a person in authority. I'm going to text you in private.
I think I recall someone mentioning that NGC does use the multi-coin holder for dealer submissions upon request. I could be wrong. Chris
NGC stopped using the multi-coin slabs several years ago. They are still available for bulk (dealer-only? maybe) submissions, but the average consumer does not have the volume of coins to justify this.
I'm not a dealer per se, (volume) but if no one else had one of these it might be nice to have something unique. I'm pretty sure there must have been others made but so far I have not heard of them.
The customer service lady told me about "a year ago" (verbatim). She seemed to know what she was talking about, as she answered all of my questions. That said, maybe that was a blanket answer to which she really meant: "a long time ago". But yeah, if dealers can do it, then that would be a good avenue to take.
I remember seeing this from ANACS, but no idea what ever came of the effort. But like mentioned you are out of luck with NGC and PCGS barring a special or being a bulk submitter.
