Their heirs would have to have the receipts to know how much someone paid for them. Otherwise, it's just a windfall profit if they think a ONE DOLLAR coin is worth $17ish as they have nothing to compare the original purchase price. I searched briefly for a thread I recall of someone taking their own TV bought collection to a coin shop for possible sale but couldn't find it.
I stand corrected. They are all trying to make a living reselling stuff which is a common thing in the US. I guess the Jaguar payments are catching up on him. :/
a long standing thread about Coin TV stuff ==> https://www.cointalk.com/threads/the-coin-vault-on-tv.86372/
Ha.... Not real proud of it... A year ago my doctor put me on Ambien for a short period. This guy starts hawking his overpriced stuff on the History Channel in the wee hours on weekends. To my surprise, I apparently purchased a forty year consecutive mint set from the fellow. Seems I was lucid enough to get my credit card and do the deal one night. Was a complete surprise when it showed up on my doorstep..... Needless to say, I have never taken Ambien since.
But but but, he has sold more Silver Eagles than any other dealer on the planet !!!! Plus you get the special Anacs label ONLY available at HSN. Then they have that super convenient flex-pay option, you dont hafta come up with the whole $2k all at once!!!!!
More like the huge cut that HSN takes. Shops that rip off window and heirs sellers make far more than anything he does. Selling ANACS 70s for PCGS prices is burying customers in them but when you give up huge chunks to the network you kind of don't have a choice since it's not like they get the inventory for free. I've seen and heard far worse at coin shows and coin shops where no one knows what is happening than anything I've seen on TV
Even if it were a PCGS 70, still not worth it. I cant tell you how many PCGS ms & pf70 coins ive seen that had milk spots, blemishes, defects, dings etc. Ive always wondered if the new-hires had to grade Silver Eagles for like the 1st year before they even let them sniff a classic coin.
Milk spots have nothing to do with the TPGs and happen after grading. Take that up with the mints of the world same with surface toning/blemishes
hurts! Way over priced. When they go to sell and get only so much in return. Then the buyer gets pissed off and never wants anything to do with coins again. Hurts.
Ill admit, i only said that to get a rise out of you. Not very mature of me, i apologize, and i will stop now.
The TV coin salesmen do not get a pass simply because some dealers rip off heirs and widows. Two wrongs simply do not make a right. Both are plagues on our hobby. And $2,000 for that ASE is flat criminal — whether there is a law against it or not.
Shows like this should be banned. My all time favorite TV huckster...the late Robert Chambers from Coin Vault.
