I am skeptical about these two no “FG”1972-D Kennedy half errors. Any feedback would be appreciated! coin#1 coin #2 you can still see the FG I little bit but it’s really worn and the coins are in pretty good shape so are these errors ? Or does it have to be completely gone? I’m aware that these pictures aren’t the best. But any feedback would be appreciated.
I think they are just examples of dies that were polished to the point the initials have been reduced. JMHO Me thinks you have wishful thinking Aiden. LOL Nothing wrong with that though. I'd be interested to know what dad thought about it.
Aiden, you have a spender. The wear condition is AU50/53 at best and the FG has been worn down from circulation, not die polishing, imo. To get deep enough to wipe out the designers initials, die polishing would have to create a die dent. Since the initials are only worn down, it is from wear, and it matches the rest of the circulation wear.
The coin is not in the best of condition and has face value only in my opinion. Keep up the good search and thanks for sharing.
I sent in two coins for grading with PCGS both were 1972-D no fg examples. I submitted online and made sure to check the attribute box. They both came back as regular coins. From the pictures they provided, they look like no FG's. How can i get PCGS to re-evaluate without costing me more money. They even included a copy of the form I originally sent with attributes circled. here are the pics. https://www.pcgs.com/cert/45611834 & https://www.pcgs.com/cert/45611835 any help would be appreciated
Sorry you spent the more to grade them. Anything you do past this point is just going to cost you more and the results will be the same. The FG is present but they are not clear or strong. A NO FG coin will have no signs of it ever being there.
Look just above and to the right of the tail feathers. And look below the Eagles thigh downward to the left. Your first photos clearly show it. The FG is not clear but blurry from a worn die, grease on the die and circulation.
