Hey, everyone - I have a banknote in my collection that has some serious tears happening down the middle from top and bottom from wear. This is a note that doesn't have enough value to professionally restore (note worth a max of $100 in this shape) and I'm only restoring it for my own purposes so it's not so fragile when I or others handle it. This is not intended for resale. Any advice on what kind of relatively easy process I can undertake to help the note out? Any preferred glues, techniques, etc? Someone was kind enough to suggest long fiber mulberry paper but I'm wondering if there is anything simple out there that is "good enough" for an average collector with no experience in this area. Note may not be made of cotton, may actually be hemp. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Get a firm plastic sleeve and carefully slip it in. Then leave it in.

If you want preserve the integrity of the paper, and not ruin it, just get a stiff
Piece of cardboard and a currency sleeve, the cardboard will give the note
Support so that it wont cause further damage or splitting.
