Divas Constantine 1

    A new coin from Dorney. Divas Constantine1 . I do not understand the Divas for 1 year. What’s the deal on that. Another coin at a reasonable price. I like the horse Quadriga on the reverse. 886221D8-DF43-45DA-A4A1-CE74EB377DE0.jpeg A very small coin. People must have lost them all the time…OOPS, there it goes down the toilet out of my Toga….

    DIVVS - means he is deified. It's a memorial issue. Constantine is riding the chariot to heaven as God reaches out his hand to receive him.

    Also note the mint is Cyzicus (SMKS), not Thessalonica

    I've got lots of the two more common types -- those are just the two that were handy at the moment -- but that's my only one of the Divus Constantine Aequitas (~15mm, 1.90g, Ex Agora 18, 14 Oct 2014, 148). (Sorry for image quality, took these group shots just now!) IdHHEf0[1].jpg

    I suspect the “1” is for Constantine I, as opposed to his son Constantine II.
