I am finding a lot of the older circulated bills really have very little premium over face. The 1934 $10 I bought for $15, and I see quite a few where they are 60-80 years old and sell for 2-3 times face. What are the chances these things increase in value at all in the future if in the last 70 years it only doubles, you know what I mean.

So I am getting the feeling that circulated common older bills are really not worth buying. I am not necessary looking to make money on collecting, but the buying power of $10 in 1940 in today's dollars is $150, I would consider that losing my shirt if I was the one that put that $10 away 70 years ago to sell it for $15. With that said, the high grade uncirculated bills bring a good premium. Here is an example of the 1929 circulated:

http://www.donckelly.com/sm_type/f1870efine.html

vs uncirculated:

http://www.donckelly.com/sm_type/f1870e_64.html

I am on a limited budget but I am getting the feeling that buying high grade uncirculated bills really is the way to go. Is that other's feelings as well? If so I may start by picking up relatively recent uncirculated bills just to get started while saving up for uncirculated older bills.[/QUOTE]
