Nice find there Duke... Now that's more like going an 'extra light year', than 'extra mile' but you know what, despite the grade and that nice SN on the $500, I think I'd just resign not to collect $500 FRNs if I couldn't afford something like this, which I can't, especially if this is even approaching the kind of dough you have to fork over for notes that off center. It's distracting with such a narrow margin on the face.

You know, what you said about hoping to upgrade less by being more choosey up front, I agree with you on certain notes of a certain quality and price range. As for the low priced and more recent series, I'm going to snap them up raw in gem and ChCU without overly special regards to SNs, blocks, that they're mules or varieties. Once those are in my bag, if I find something nicer, then I'll upgrade, but there's a lot of the more recent notes that aren't too pricey that are in ready supply that I want to be done with so I can concentrate on the tougher ones, monitor their market prices and try to score some nice ones in the more scarce series. I guess it's part of one's strategy/approach but I'd sure hate to pass over some common $1 note from a recent series now only to be asked 10x or more a few years on. By this approach I expect to be about 95% complete in my $1 FRNs very soon as I have concentrated my initial effort on them since taking the St Louis district mantle. There are a couple of scarce series I have learned of in the $1 denomination as well and will be on the look out for them, but I am just about ready to move on to $5s in a more concentrated manner because of this approach with the $1s.
