Barber Dimes "Barber Dimes were minted from 1892 to 1916. Barber Dimes were very popular, replacing the 55-year old Seated Liberty design. They largely went into circulation and stayed there, and most of the earlier dates are available mainly in low grades." "The series contains one of the legendary rarities of all U.S. coins, the 1894-S dime, a special issue of just 24 coins, with just 9 or 10 known today. The key date of the regular issue coins is 1895-O, with a mintage of 440,000." "In addition to the 1895-O, the series contains numerous semi-key dates, including 1895, 1896-O and -S, 1901-S, 1903-S, and 1904-S. Some dates are relatively common, but very difficult in higher grades (such as the 1909-D). The 1968-S ''No S'' Proof Dime "When contemplating some of the most intriguing Modern US coins, several of the No S Proof coins come in mind. In particular, the 1968-S Proof Dime -- the first date for the Roosevelt Dime Proofs without the "S" mint mark. After thorough research, experts concluded that the "S" mint mark was not punched into the die creating this new variety. The mistake must have been caught by mint employees early in the process as only a few examples managed to escape.
