True. He definitely deserves credit for his accomplishments in discovery, I just think he gets a little too much credit, in schools they make it seem as though he singlehandedly found the Americas, when like you pointed out the Vikings were here hundreds of years earlier. Legend has it the Knights Templar voyaged to the new world, as well as the native Americans who had been here presumably since the time modern day Russia was connected to north America in the last ice age
This is getting off topic a bit, but. I'm hearing some fiction with the fact. Columbus gained popularity at a time when the US needed a hero, and when his discovering the new world was solidified. Of course way before the discovery of L'Anse aux Meadows. Around the time of the Columbian exposition. A time to celebrate progress, not look at his misdeeds. Not saying anything is wrong or right.
congrats, I know those solid green wrappers well, They were more common to see until the late 1980s than they are now. I think it's 60-70s era. sometimes the solid color wrappers can pay off. BTW Quarters wrappers from the era were solid orange. wow 5 years.... where's the cake? Dibs on a corner piece! found any more of those rolls since?
Haha the cakes in my belly, sorry I didn't have any more luck with dimes. As a matter of fact I never really hunted dimes, just cents and nickels. That particular day I planned on grabbing $25 worth of cents and nickels if memory serves but all I had on me were 20s so instead of asking them to make change I figured I'd grab 3 dime rolls.. I suppose it was fate! Been a couple years since I've been in the roll hunting game but I've been itching a bit lately, I should probably scratch that itch, eh? There's been lots of talk of coin shortages, not sure if thats universal or if just certain areas/banks are having trouble procuring coinage. Then again there's only one way to find out!
shortages were hit or miss depending on the area, been a couple months since it was a big deal in my area, so it might have passed already. when it was a big deal, the banks would just do 1 or two rolls of quarters, nickels or dimes or cents a person and stores wouldn't give change, and some still don't. they got used to rounding up to the next dollar, darn you local little ceasers! $5 hot n' ready, $5.35, no change, $6.00 hot n' ready.... it's not a good pizza, but it was the best pizza $5 could buy. LOL
