    I agree completely. I basically used the photo of the MS 62 to make the point that toning does not have much of an impact upon grade, or straight grade status. Toning fans love their toners. Blast white coin fans like the “just out of the mint” look. However, when dealing with Peace Dollars, one must be realistic. Few original surface examples that are blast white exist—almost all have been dipped, to remove crusty toning, or the battleship gray look. As @ddddd said, rainbow toned Peace Dollars are a rarity, and when one finds one, the price will be outrageous. So, compromise is in order when looking for nice Peace Dollars. Toning vs White is an ancient debate, and a matter of taste. The late, great Jack Lee, who had some of the most fabulous Morgan and Peace dollars loved blast white coins. However, he had a few of the highest graded toners ever in his incredible collection.
