Got this today. Too bad it's not in better condition and there's a teller stamp on the face. I think it's interesting that the teller number is 13, though.
View attachment 812249 View attachment 812249 A buddy of mine sent me this not-so-great photo of this 1934 $20 he got at work yesterday and apologies if It's against the rules to post fake-a-roonies but one of his co-workers took in this hundred as well... He snapped a photo before they whisked it away...
If I read this post correctly, The 20 is real, but the 100 is fake. What were the giveaways? Pen test? Watermark, security strip, very dark ink on the back? Or is the 20 bad also? People will mistake older bills with no watermarks and security strips as counterfeit.
It was printed almost 30 years ago, way longer than the typical lifespan. Must have been squirreled away for some time.
Correct.. the $20 is just an oldie and the Hundie is a phony...it's not as easy to tell from the uploaded photo but in person it's fairly obvious (I got to see it up close) it's just printed so the holographic strip doesn't holograph (it's just a blue printed strip) and if you look at the back, the printing on the left edge doesn't even make it to the edge of the paper as it's not quite centered
That's absolutely incredible. The oldest bill I have personally ever found in circulation was a 1985 $10. The oldest bill I have seen in circulation was a 1969 $10 that I bought off a jack-a friend for $15 because he threatened to spend it otherwise.
Get in the habit of asking bank tellers if they have any "cool old bills" when you go to do routine withdrawals or what have you and you will quickly lower your oldest bill ever found in circulation. I asked that of a teller earlier in the year and a 1934A $10 bill was brought out for me. And then earlier this year as well I saw a 1934D $5 silver certificate in a teller's drawer, which I quickly bought. Oh, and just this past Tuesday a teller had a 1969A $10 bill that I bought as well.
Found this one today but think I'm just gonna start saving 320k or lower and just keep the 640s long enough to post 'em
