Thanks for that Aiden few bits that might be of interest to me, unfortunatly a lot of them dont take paypal LOL but will register :thumb: De Orc :kewl:
This is great for just general dealer information. What I was hoping is that there is a list specifically related to Ebay. As they are such a common topic here, I would think we might be able to start one and make it a "sticky" post so it stays at the top of whichever forum is deemed most appropriate.
One word of caution about Teletrade is that I believe their parent company, Escala Group, was recently delisted from the NASDAQ. They've had some pretty severe operating difficulties and several executives have been jailed. I don't know how this might directly impact Teletrade or whether it would affect anyone's decision to send them money.
Now you told them and it is out here I was hoping not many people would see that and I would have a good chance at winning that $2500!!!! J/K Speedy
As of 6:29 a.m. PST on January 24, 2007, ESCL was a valid symbol on NASDAQ, quoted at $3.75. What is the source of your information that it has been delisted?
There may be a more recent article that covers this topic, but AFAIK the company is now pink sheet. Escala Shares Sink on Nasdaq Delist Plan Tuesday January 9, 4:52 pm ET Escala Group Gets Nasdaq Delisting Notice for Not Filing Financial Results; Shares Plummet NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Escala Group Inc. plummeted on Tuesday after the trading network for stamps, coins and other collectibles said it received a delisting notice from the Nasdaq, effective Wednesday. Shares fell $3.19, or 41.27 percent, to close at $4.54 on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The stock has traded between $3.95 and $35 during the past 52 weeks. Nasdaq will delist the company because of its failure to file financial statements for the fiscal year ended June 30 and its report for the quarter ended Sept. 30. Escala has appealed the decision, but the appeal will not result in a stay of the panel's decision to delist the company's common stock. Escala will begin trading Wednesday on the Pink Sheets, an electronic quotation service for securities traded over the counter. In December, Escala said it will restate its financial results for fiscal years 2003 through 2005 and part of 2006 as a result of a review of deals between the company and a majority shareholder. The shareholder, Madrid, Spain-based Afinsa Bienes Tangibles SA, was implicated in a large postage stamp investment fraud in May, which sent Escala shares down sharply at the time.
Don't worry I do not plan to register on teletrade just yet - at least you stand a better shot of winning than me. I have not seen anything I really wanted. And my favorite is heritage - even though I have only won about 5 auctions compared to about 80 on Ebay(still like ebay). I have changed how I deal with ebay and paypal in the last month - I got a coin completely scratched by a wire brush. The seller and paypal did nothing - next time I use paypal I will use my credit card and stop payment that way. So I should be getting my first negative on Ebay today or tomorrow as soon as the guy sees his - oh well. Speaking of surveys - have you done heritages yet? They are giving away an uncir high relief $20! Second prize is $100,000 of free auctions for their coins. Lots of other stuff - I will be mailing mine tomorrow.
Roy, ESCL is no longer a valid Nasdaq symbol. The stock only trades in the pink sheets. http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=escl
Really don't wanna do that, I don't care how good or trustworthy the dealer is, somebody is in their opinion gonna have a problem with 'em. Then the first thing they are gonna do is come back and say - " you told me ....." Unh uh - aint gonna happen. I was quite hestiant to even post the list that I did post, but I did it anyway. But's that about as far as I'm gonna go. I will say this however, just about every dealer listed there sells on ebay. And anyone, anyone at all can ask my opinion, or anyone else's, of an individual ebay seller and I will happily answer. I'm sure the others will too. And before the question even comes up, we are not going to post a bad ebay seller list either.
There are some good dealers on Ebay, but unfortunately you have to find them by trial and error then weed the good from the bad and there you'll have the ones you can trust. I've bought from a few recently who I'd go back to again and again. I think one of the best ways to find an honest Ebay seller is by how much he communicates with the buyer. Its the ones usually with the big flashy ads that I stay away from, the ones that focus way too much on the coins features.
This is so true. I bought 3 coins from one dealer in three different months. I sent a reminder about feedback with my payment. Well he never left feedback and never replied. Just took the money and stuffed it. Besides that he hypes up his stuff as being BU. It is not BU at all but somehow it is bright. Nice and sparkling but worn. Needless to say I won't go back.
You should go ahead and register---for the last few auctions they have been having some nice IHC, and you never know when they might get that 1909-S! I did one survey for Heritage on the internet...but it was just winning either, Auction Catalogs, or $250 IIRC....but I just got the one you were talking about in Numismatic News so I guess I'll send it in!
