have become interested in the die state of a coin. I have found a lot of exp. of different ways to label the different states (such as early die state.middle die state etc., Reiver state a,b,c,etc., For bust quarters type I, type II,ect.) Is there any site that will list the states and define each state and describe what it takes to label a certain state.
Welcome to the neighborhood! I don't know if there is any one site that is all-inclusive for the different denominations and/or series, but I would guess if there were, it would be pretty sizable. Chris
I don't think there is a website. Most of that level detail will be in reference books, for example the Reiver state a, b, c, etc. comes from books written by Jules Reiver. For large cents, the early dates have both generic early, middle, late, as well as Breen states which are listed in Walter Breen's early date book. The late dates have Grellman die states which are listed in Bob Grellman's late date attribution book.
