From what I can see I'll go along with a die crack. At first I had a problem with that since the lower horizontal leg doesn't seem affected. BUT With a bit of further thinking I decided that there's enough evidence of circulation that it would have been worn off. Originally there would have been a thin ridge of metal going across the leg. High and thin resulted in quick wear. BTW there appears to be another over by the "N".
