Die Breaks

    Anyone have ideas on what caused the cracks/markings around the "one cent" on the coin below?

    Looks like someone decided to scratch it.

    Post mint damage, someone scratched it. Die breaks would cause raised lines on the coin.

    Agree Post-strike Mint Damage - That is not a Die Break. Die Breaks would not form incuse lines into the planchet or lines through the letters. The coin looks very old and worn. You can't even tell the date that well.
