If so, I think it might be a subsurface break. I saw a lot of these when I was searching Mint bags of CA &amp; UT SQ&#039;s. What happens is that a crack originates below the surface of the die, usually along one of the devices. The crack has expanded just enough that when the coin is struck, it leaves a slight depression.
