Did the Ancient Greeks debase coinage like the Romans?

    Pausanias? The King of Sparta? That Pausanias?

    Or a different Pausanias?

    I'm guessing you're referring to a different Pausanias since the Spartans specifically forbade the issuance of precious metals coinage to discourage the pursuit of wealth and they stuck with iron coinage to make it heavy and cumbersome.

    But I can't think of any other Pausanias so I'm not sure which one you mean.
