Did NGC blow it on this one?

    NGC was notified once I saw this thread. Lisa is out of the office until tomorrow, though, so I don't know what is being done.

    NGC doesn't have the coin listed at the link above.

    They may have already pulled the cert, then.

    Has to be pulled; I was looking at it this time yesterday.

    "Mechanical error," my....foot. They just blew one, and badly. :)

    I watched a video on how they grade coins at NGC and PCGS it takes about a minute but I believe three different graders look at each coin. I can't see all of them missing it.

    Not sure it's worth your time, but now that the cert has been pulled, you could point out to the seller that the number in the slab doesn't work on NGC's website.

    For starters the 1822 has the first start right up against the point of the bust.

    Compare the position of the first star,

    Sellers coin

    Genuine 1822 dime

    There is only one obv die in 1822

    Notice also that the digits are larger on the 1822 and further left.
